ABOUT Gud ki tairi RECIPE

A yummy sindhi sweet rice preaparation,cooked mainly in winters and enjoyed with palak saag and fried potatoes

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup rice
  2. 1/2 cup grated jaggery
  3. 1 cup water and more for rice
  4. 1/4 tsp Salt
  5. 1 tbsp ghee
  6. 1 tbsp raisins
  7. 1 tsp Fennel Seeds (Saunf)
  8. Few sliced pieces of coconut
  9. 1 tbsp cashewnuts

Instructions

  1. Soak and keep rice for half hr.
  2. Soak the grated jaggery in 1 cup water and keep aside till it dissolves.keep stirring in intervals to help it dissolve.
  3. Add ghee in cooker and saute coconut slices, raisins and cashews and keep half aside.
  4. In the same ghee in cooker,add fennel seeds and jaggery water after straining it.
  5. Add salt and rice and add more water to cover the rice completely and 1 inch water level above the rice level.
  6. Cook for 2 whistles on high flame and for around 5 mins on low flame.
  7. Let the steam go off. Open the cooker, and serve the tairi with more garnishing with cashews, raisins ..
