Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Channa Dal - 1 cup
  2. Sooji - 1 tbsp
  3. Onion - 1 medium chopped finely
  4. Green Chilli - 2 chopped finely
  5. Curry leaves - 2 sprigs chopped
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Oil for deep frying - 1/2 cup
  8. Fennel Seeds - 1 tblsp
  9. Garlic - 6 cloves
  10. Ginger - 1 inch

Instructions

  1. Soak the channa dal and keep aside for atleast 1 hour.
  2. Coarsely grind the ginger, garlic and fennel seeds without adding water. Keep aside.
  3. Now take the channa dal and blend it coarsely. Please remember not to make it into a fine paste.
  4. Add this into a mixing bowl. Add the sooji, salt, ginger garlic fennel paste, onions, chilli and curry leaves and mix well altogether.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan.
  6. Take small portion of the mixture and make small ball and then flatten it. Continue the same process with the remaining mixture.
  7. Drop the Vadas in batches and fry them in medium heat till golden brown.
  8. Drain and Serve as it is or with any chutney of your choice.
