ABOUT Meatzza...( Fusion Pizza with Mince) RECIPE

Meatzza is an innovative pizza, with mince meat as the base, crushed tomatoes as the topping and mozzarella as always. Nigellissima is famous for her easy Italian dishes. This dish is from her book - Instant Italian Inspiration.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 500 gm minced beef
  2. 3 tbsp grated parmesan
  3. 3 tbsp breadcrumbs or oats
  4. 3 tbsp fresh parsley
  5. 2 Eggs
  6. 1 garlic clove
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Pepper to taste
  9. 2 cups chopped tomatoes
  10. 1 tsp garlic oil
  11. 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  12. Few basil or parsley leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 220 degree centigrade.
  2. In a large bowl, using your hands , combine the mince, parmesan, oats or breadcrumbs, parsley and eggs. Grate in the garlic clove and add some salt and pepper. Do not overwork it, just lightly mix it together, or the meat will become dense.
  3. Butter a shallow , round baking pan and turn the meat into it , pressing it gently down with your fingers to cover the bottom .
  4. Mix the chopped tomatoes with garlic oil , oregano and salt and pepper and spread , using a rubber spatula , slightly on top of the base .
  5. Arrange the mozzarella on top and then put it in the oven for about 20-25 mins , by which time the meat would be cooked through and lightly set and the mozzarella melted.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5 mins , then adorn with some basil or parsley leaves and bring it to the table before cutting into slices like a pizza .
