Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 2.5cups of whole wheat flour
  2. Half cup grated beetroot and carrot mixed
  3. Half tsp carom seeds
  4. Half tsp crushed black pepper
  5. A pinch of asafoeitida
  6. A pinch of baking soda
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Three tbsp Olive oil.
  9. Warm water to knead
  10. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Add the flour, grated beet and carrot, carom seeds, black pepper crushed, Hing, baking soda and salt in a bowl. Mix well
  2. Now add the oil and rub in the dough till it gets a bit crumbly. Add a little water at a time.
  3. Knead a dough.
  4. Cover and let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
  5. Now roll the dough.
  6. Using a cookie cutter cut out circles . Keep them covered so they don't dry out.
  7. Heat oil in a wok.
  8. Fry mathris in batches
  9. When the mathris turn golden, take them out on a tissue paper.
  10. Serve or store in air tight container

Very interesting dish, would love to make this instead of the plain old matris.
