ABOUT Spinach Chickpeas Curry and Lemon Rice RECIPE

Simple nutritious chickpeas cooked with spinach and curd served with even more simple but tasty rice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Spinach Chickpeas curry
  2. Chickpeas 200 gm soaked for 3 to 4 hours
  3. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  4. Onions 100 gm
  5. Garlic 5 to 6 cloves
  6. Spinach chopped 1 cup
  7. Ginger and green chilli paste 1 tbs
  8. Oil 3 tbs
  9. Salt
  10. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  11. Cumin and coriander powder 2 tsp
  12. Kitchen king powder 1 tsp
  13. Curd 1/2 cup
  14. For Lemon Rice
  15. Boiled rice 2 cup
  16. Salt to taste
  17. Ghee 2 tbs
  18. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  19. Lemon juice 2 tsp
  20. Coriander chopped 3 tbs

Instructions

  1. Let us start with the Spinach Chickpeas Curry.
  2. Soak chickpeas overnight for 4 to 5 hours.
  3. Add salt in chickpeas and pressure cook in cooker.
  4. Make fine paste of onions and garlic.
  5. In a pan heat oil and add cumin seeds. When cumin starts crackling add ginger-chilli paste and onion-garlic paste. Stir it continuously.
  6. Now add chopped spinach and cook it for 3 to 4 minutes.
  7. Add salt, turmeric powder, cumin coriander powder, kitchen king masala and boiled chickpeas. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
  8. Add curd. Mix it well and cook for 1 minute and turn off the flame. Your Spinach Chickpeas Curry is ready to be served.
  9. Now make the lemon rice.
  10. Heat the 2 tbs of ghee and add turmeric powder in it.
  11. Add the ghee to boiled rice.
  12. Add salt, lemon juice and coriander in rice and give a good stir.
  13. Your lemon rice is ready to be served.
