ABOUT Shahi Tukra RECIPE

It is an authentic Sindhi mithai. Bread is deep fried and dipped in sugar syrup and served with chilled rabri.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. For Sweet Bread:
  2. Bread slices - 4
  3. Milk - 1 cup
  4. Chopped almonds - 5-6
  5. Oil for frying
  6. For syru
  7. Sugar 1cup
  8. Water 2 cups
  9. Elachi powder 1 teaspoon
  10. Few Strands Of Kesar Soaked In Warm Water
  11. Rabri
  12. Milk 1 litre
  13. Sugar 3 tablespoons
  14. Elachi powder 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Pour 1cup milk in a thali
  2. Cut bread in square or triangle shape.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai.
  4. Individually soak each bread slice in milk for one second.
  5. Now deep fry on slow flame till golden brown.
  6. Repeat the same with the rest of the bread.
  7. Syrup
  8. Simultaneously start making syrup on the other burner
  9. Boil sugar and water.
  10. When sugar melts ; add kesar and elachi powder.
  11. Boil till you get thread consistency.
  12. Close the flame
  13. Dip each slice of bread in the syrup
  14. Allow it to soak for 5minutes.
  15. Remove and keep it aside.
  16. Rabri
  17. Boil milk till it reduces to half
  18. Add elachi powder ;kesar and sugar.
  19. Adjust the taste.
  20. Allow it to cool.
  21. Serve chilled
  22. How to serve
  23. In a serving dish ;place a piece of sweet bread .
  24. Pour Rabri on top
  25. Garnish with sliced pistas .
