It takes no time to digest so it is helpful during fasting time as it is very balanced with less carbs, more protein and useful fat and also easy to cook.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Moong dal 1 cup (soak it for 5 mins)
  2. Rice - 1 cup (Soak it for 5 mins)
  3. Green chillies-2 slit
  4. Tomato 1 medium
  5. Jeera 1 table spoon
  6. Ginger 1/2 inch cut into small pieces
  7. Ghee 1 and half tbsp ( preferably cow ghee which has less calories)
  8. Water -3 cups
  9. Coriander leaves few strands
  10. Curry leaves/bay leaf 1 strand
  11. Red chilli 1/2 table spoon
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Turmeric 1/2 tea spoon

Instructions

  1. 1) In a deep vessel or rice cooker add ghee let it change to liquid state.
  2. 2) Add jeera and let it crackle & add green chilli, ginger, curry leaves and let it splutter.
  3. 3) Add sliced tomato and coriander leaves and let it become mushy.
  4. 4) Add red chilli and salt to that add drained moong dal and rice fry for 1 minute.
  5. 5) Add sufficient water to cook i used 3 cups for 1 cup of rice and dal and get 2 whistles.
  6. 6) Serve it with tomato chutney or simply with curd.
