A very light easy fish biryani. Simple and quick. My own recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 8
1 kg halwa fish cleaned and cut in pieces
For fish marination:
Fish masala powder 1 1/2 tbsp
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Salt 1 tsp
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Water 3 tbsp
For fish masala powder:
Whole red chilli 8 to 10
1 tbsp whole jeera
1 tbsp whole coriander
1/4 tsp whole sauf
1/4 tsp rai
Basmati rice 1/2 kg
Onion sliced 5
Chopped Tomatoes 4
Green chillies 3 to 4
Bay leaf 2 to 3
Whole black pepper 1 tsp
Whole dalchini 2
Curd 1/2 cup
Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
Turmeric 1/2 tsp
1 tsp jeera powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp garam masala powder
Red chilli powder as per taste
Fresh coriander leaves a bunch
Oil 1/2 cup or as required
Instructions
For fish masala powder - Roast all the ingredients together and grind them in a blender.
For fish marination - In fish pieces, add fish masala powder, salt, turmeric powder, oil, lemon juice and marinate in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
For biryani masala - Heat oil in a big pot, add in tez patta, whole garam masala, onion sliced and green chilli. Cook till golden brown, add in ginger garlic paste and saute for some time.
Add in all powder masalas - jeera powder, coriander powder, chilli powder, fish masala powder, turmeric, salt, a little garam masala powder and saute for some time.
Add in chopped tomatoes, saute till the oil separates and the tomatoes are soft. Add half cup of curd and saute well. Cool this mixture, then add the marinated fish and keep it aside.
Cook rice for biryani - In another vessel, take a little oil. Add tez patta, dalchini and once it starts crackling, add water and salt.
When the water boils, add the rice and once it is 3/4 th cooked, strain the water. In another dish put a small layer of rice then put the marinated fish then the biryani masala and then add the remaining rice on top. Add 1/2 cup of water close the lid, simmer the gas and cook for 20 minutes.
Serve hot with curd and salad.
