ABOUT Kande Pohe RECIPE

A Maharashtrian morning breakfast that is usually served with chana rassa.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 bowls of poha/ flattened rice, washed
  2. 2 big onions, sliced
  3. 6-7 green chillies, chopped
  4. 1 Tbsp Ground nuts
  5. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  6. Vinegar or lemon juice as per your taste
  7. Chopped curry leaves- handful
  8. salt as per taste
  9. Oil- 2-3 tbsp
  10. Coriander leaves- handful

Instructions

  1. In a deep bottomed pan, add the oil and heat it, then add in the mustard seeds and groundnuts. Once they crackle, add in the green chillies, then add the onions in it and saute till they turn golden brown in colour.
  2. Next add the turmeric powder, amchur powder and vinegar, saute it for a minute then add the washed poha and salt. Saute it for a while, then cover it with a lid.
  3. Sprinkle coriander leaves on top and serve it hot.
