Moong Dal Ka Halwa is a must try traditional recipe, which is pretty easy to prepare at home! It is one of the most popular Indian recipes and almost every North Indian occasion is incomplete without it! In fact, it is one of most loved sweet delicacies. This sweet dish is a perfect mix of mashed moong dal cooked in ghee and topped with cashews. This moong dal delicacy is a delicious delight. The best thing about this delicacy is that it can be prepared at home very easily without putting in much efforts.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup yellow lentil daal
  2. 1 cup sugar
  3. 1 cup water
  4. 1 cup ghee
  5. 1 tsp saffron soaked in water
  6. 1 tsp cardamon power
  7. 2tbsp dry fruits chopped(pistachios,alomnds,cashews)
  8. 50 gms evaporated milk
  9. 1 tbsp semolina
  10. 1 tbsp gram flour

Instructions

  1. Soak yellow lentil daal in water for 3-4 hrs..Drain extra water..Grind into fine paste.
  2. Heat 1 cup ghee in a wok..Add gram flour and semolina and roast till fragrant arises.
  3. Now add grinded paste of yellow lentil daal.keep stirring on slow flame so that no lumps are formed
  4. All the ghee added will get soaked up by daal gradually...
  5. Keep roasting daal on slow flame till brown in colour. .It may take 25-30 min...The mixture will slowly form crumbly..
  6. On the other flame,boil 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in a vessel. Add cardamon powder,saffron water to it. Once sugar dissolves completely,off the flame.
  7. Once the lentil is brown in colour,add the prepared sugar syrup into it. Hear you need to cautious as the syrup may spill while pouring
  8. Keep stirring on slow flame till all the sugar syrup mixes well into it and no water is left..It may take around 10 minutes..Finally add grated evaporated milk and mix well.cook for 2 min .
  9. Off the flame..Add chopped dry fruits and serve hot by garnishing silver varak...
