ABOUT Braided Pithe RECIPE

This braided pithe was very famous in undivided Bengal . Still it is continuing it's legacy generation after generation . It is specially made in winter season because the pithas are dipped in date palm jaggery syrup .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1/2 cup gobindobhog rice powder ( small grain scented raw rice )
  2. 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  3. 1/4 cup freshly grated coconut
  4. 1 table spoon maida
  5. 1/2 cup date palm jaggery
  6. 1 cup water to make gur syrup
  7. Hot water to make the dough
  8. White oil to dip fry

Instructions

  1. Keep ready all the dry ingredients
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients together
  3. Put one cup water and jaggery in a pan and make a thick syrup ( no need to cook string consistency )
  4. In a nonstick fry pan boil water and put the rice flour mixture and cook for some time
  5. Let it absorb all the water
  6. Let it cool for some time and knead to form a soft dough
  7. Keep the dough in a bowl covered
  8. take out three small peda and make thin roll
  9. Now start making braid ( shown in the picture )
  10. keep oil in a kadai and start frying till it is golden brown
  11. Put the fried pithe in the jaggery syrup when it is still warm
  12. Keep it in syrup for some time
  13. Now it is ready to serve
