ABOUT Purple cabbage chutney RECIPE

This chutney goes very well with rice.You could have it with dosas or idlis too.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup shredded purple cabbage
  2. 1/3 Cup sliced onion
  3. 2 teaspoon oil
  4. half teaspoon cumin
  5. 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  6. half teaspoon urad dal
  7. 1 tablespoon chana dal
  8. 2 crushed garlic cloves
  9. half teaspoon crushed Ginger
  10. 1 green chilli
  11. 2 red chilli
  12. a small piece of seedless tamarind
  13. salt to season
  14. 2 tbsps water to grind

Instructions

  1. heat oil in a saucepan
  2. start tempering with cumin , coriander seeds,urad dal and chana dal
  3. add the Chillies
  4. adca crushed garlic and Ginger.saute
  5. add sliced onions and saute transparent
  6. now add the shredded Purple cabbage
  7. mix cover and cook for 5 minutes
  8. open the lid .switch of f the gas let it cool on a plate
  9. Grind
  10. Add tadka .Heat a teaspoon oil .Add mustard ,asfotedia and curry leaves .Add to the chutney.
