Yellow peas boiled and cooked with tomato, onion and other spices,is a great snack item.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup yellow peas
  2. 1 medium size onion chopped
  3. 1 medium size tomato chopped
  4. 1 tsp Garam Masala powder
  5. 1 tsp coriander chopped
  6. 1 tsp cumin powder
  7. 1 tsp salt
  8. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  9. 1/2 tsp red chilly powder
  10. 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  11. Oil
  12. 1 green chili chopped
  13. 1 small potato made into small pieces.
  14. 1 tsp coriander powder
  15. 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  16. 1 cinnamon stick
  17. 1-2 cardamom pods
  18. Bhujiya (optional)
  19. Water

Instructions

  1. Soak yellow peas overnight in water.
  2. Put the yellow peas and pressure cook it with 5-6 whistle,till it becomes soft.Drain the water and keep it aside.
  3. In a flat pan,add oil.Once the oil is boiled ,add cumin seeds,cinnamon stick and cardamon.
  4. Add the chopped onions.Fry it till it becomes golden brown.Add the potatoes and fry it.Add the tomatoes and cover cook it for 1-2 minutes,till the raw smell goes away.
  5. In a bowl,add cumin powder,coriander powder,red chilly powder and mix with water.Put the mixture in pan and cook it.Put the boiled yellow peas and water and cook it for 2-3 mins on medium flame.Add the red chilly powder.Cook for 1 minutes.
  6. Switch of the flame ,Add Garam Masala powder.
  7. Serve with chopped onions,chopped green chilly.Bhujiya also can be added.
