being born and brought up in Gujarat I am a pure Gujarati by food. Handvo is healthy dish. I have moong dal left from dinner and I added that also in it. Let’s see how.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Semolina- 1 cup
  2. Curd-1/2 cup
  3. moong cooked dal-1/2 cup
  4. cabbage-1/2 cup ( grated)
  5. green chilli- ginger paste-1 teaspoon
  6. Mustard seeds-1/2 teaspoon
  7. sesame seeds-1/2 teaspoon
  8. Oil 1 tablespoon
  9. Water as required
  10. Salt to taste
  11. red chilli powder-1/2 teaspoon( optional)

Instructions

  1. Grind dal to paste and keep aside.
  2. Add curd in semolina and little water, mix well and rest for 15 mins.
  3. Grate cabbage.keep aside.
  4. Now after 15 mins add dal paste and cabbage in semolina mixture.
  5. Add ginger-green chilli paste and salt accordingly.
  6. Mix well add adjust consistency by adding water. Batter should be flowing like we make pakoras.
  7. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and sesame seeds.
  8. As it crackles add Handvo mixture.
  9. Cover it and cook for 10mins
  10. After 10 mins just check once by picking toothpick in it.
  11. If batter doesn’t sticking to it,it’s cooked. Flip it and cook other side to its brown and crisp.
  12. Make pieces and serve it with green chutney
