Fryum or vathal recipe made with leftover rice and other simple ingredients

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1.5 cups leftover rice
  2. 1 green chilly
  3. 1 onion, finely chopped
  4. 1 teaspoon salt
  5. 2 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Grind the leftover rice along with green chilly and salt
  2. To this paste, add finely chopped onion and mix well.
  3. Place a muslin cloth on the hot floor
  4. Wet your hands and take a pinch of prepared batter and start placing in the cloth, leaving 1 inch space between each other
  5. Let it sundry for 2 days. Maximum it might take 3 days
  6. Once they are completely sundried, store them in an air tight container.
  7. Heat oil in a kadai. Once heated enough, slowly drop the fryums into oil and fry until it turns slightly brown
  8. Take out from oil and serve hot with curd rice or rasam rice.
