Delicious paneer in rich indian gravy

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Oil - 3tbsps
  2. Butter - 1stick
  3. Jeera - 1tsp
  4. Cloves - 10
  5. Star Anise - 1
  6. Bay leaf - 1
  7. Cinnamon - 1 inch
  8. Paneer - 400gms
  9. Onions - 2 medium sized. Make it into a paste
  10. Tomatoes - 2. Make it into a paste
  11. Almond & cashewnuts - 10 each. Make them into powder
  12. Kasuri methi - 1tbsp
  13. Ginger garlic paste - 1.5tbsps
  14. Salt - as required
  15. Chilli powder - as required
  16. Turmeric - 1tsp
  17. Garam masala - 2tbsps
  18. Coriander powder - 2tbsps
  19. Cumin powder - 1tbsp
  20. Sugar - 1tsp
  21. Cream - optional

Instructions

  1. In a kadai, add oil and butter.
  2. Add all the whole spices and fry them for half minute.
  3. Add jeera, ginger garlic paste. Once you get the aroma of the paste, add onion paste.
  4. Once the onion paste is half cooked, add salt, turmeric, red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder. Mix and cook for 2mins.
  5. To the above mixture, add the tomato paste / puree. Give a mix.
  6. Add sugar. Mix and let it cook for 3-4mins.
  7. Add the paneer cubes, and some water. Let the paneer get cooked in the gravy for 5mins.
  8. Once you see the paneer is cooked, add almond and cashew powder.
  9. Give a mix and let it cook for a minute. Adjust spices according to your taste.
  10. Add kasuri methi, give a mix and turn of the heat. Keep the lid closed. Add a cube of butter while serving.
  11. Tastes good when eaten with indian breads
