ABOUT Tangy Fish Curry RECIPE

This fish curry is made with raw Mangoes. It is spicy, tangy and flavorful. The use of Mangoes in fish curries enhances the flavour and the aroma is excellent.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. For Marinating: Fish - 500gms
  2. Chilly powder - 2 tblspn
  3. Turmeric powder - 1 tblspn
  4. Salt - 1 tblspn
  5. For Masala : Oil - 1/4 cup
  6. Mustard seeds - 1 tblspn
  7. Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tblspn
  8. Dry red Chilly - 2
  9. Curry Leaves - a handful
  10. Onion - 2 finely chopped
  11. Tomato - 2 Finely chopped
  12. Green chilly - 2 slit
  13. Kashmiri red chilly powder - 3 tblspn
  14. Coriander powder - 2 tblspn
  15. Turmeric powder - 1 tblspn
  16. Raw mango - 1 cut into 3-4 pieces
  17. Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
  18. Coriander leaves - a handful finely chopped
  19. Salt to taste
  20. Water as required

Instructions

  1. Take fish and the marinating spices and mix well. Set aside.
  2. Heat a earthernware pot or any pan (I cooked in eartherware pot) add in oil and crackle in mustard, fenugreek, dry chilli and curry leaves.
  3. Add in onions and green chillies. Add in salt and mix well. Cook till it gets lightly translucent.
  4. Add in tomatoes and cook till it gets mushy, add in the spice powders along with a splash of water and mix well. Cook till oil separates.
  5. Now add in fish and the mango and mix well. Bring it to a boil again and simmer for around 15 mins.
  6. Now add in fresh curry leaves and coriander leaves. Cook for 2-3 and take off the heat.
