ABOUT Mosaru Khara RECIPE

Mosaru is curd in kannada. Curd has many beneficial properties. This is best enjoyed with rice or ragi ball.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Lauki [bottle gourd] - 1/2
  2. Onion - 1 medium sized
  3. Green chilli - 3
  4. Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
  5. Fried channa - 3 tbsp
  6. Garlic - 2 pods
  7. Ginger - small piece
  8. Coconut - 1/2 grated
  9. Oil - 1 tbsp
  10. Coriander - handful
  11. Curd - 2 cup (preferably sour)
  12. Mustard - 1/2 tsp
  13. Jeera - 1/2 tsp
  14. Pepper corns - 5-7
  15. Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop Lauki into small pieces.
  2. In a vessel boil water with salt, when it comes to boil add the lauki pieces and cook.
  3. Strain the lauki and retain the water for grinding the masala paste.
  4. Fry green chilli and 1 sprig curry leaves.
  5. Chop onion length wise and 1 sprig curry leaves for Tadka.
  6. In a mixer jar add coconut, green chilli, curry leaves, fried channa, garlic, ginger, pepper Corns, coriander seeds, add water and grind to a paste.
  7. In a pan add oil, mustard, jeera, when they splutter add the onion and curry leaves and fry till 3/4 th done. Let the onion remain crisp.
  8. Now add the ground paste and the boiled lauki.
  9. Add salt to taste and bring to a boil.
  10. When the gravy cools, add the curd and mix.
  11. Serve hot with rice or ragi ball.
