ABOUT Lab E Shireen RECIPE

Lab E Shireen Recipe is a custard based Arabian dessert dish in which milk is boiled along with colorful vermicelli(I used normal vermicelli). It is usually served chilled mixed with various assorted fruits, jellies. This is a very easy assembled dessert suitable to be served as a party dessert on Eid festival.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Milk 1/2litre
  2. Vermicelli 1/2cup
  3. Ghee 1tbsp
  4. Sugar 4tbsp or according to taste
  5. Custard powder 1tbsp
  6. Chopped dryfruits 1/4cup
  7. Chopped fruits 1cup
  8. Rose essence 1tsp
  9. Jelly powder 1tbsp

Instructions

  1. Make jelly as per the instruction given on the pack and keep in the refrigerator till jelly sets.
  2. Roast the vermicelli with ghee till light brown.
  3. Switch off and keep aside.
  4. Boil milk in a heavy bottomed pan.
  5. Add the roasted vermicelli, cook till vermicelli cooked well and milk thickens.
  6. Add sugar and mix. .
  7. In a small bowl mix custard powder and little water. I used the strawberry flavour one.
  8. Mix well so that no lumps remain.
  9. Add this to the milk mixture and stir well.
  10. When everything combines well switch off.
  11. Bring to room temperature.
  12. You can keep in refrigerator for few hours.
  13. Then add fruits, dryfruits, rose essence and mix well.
  14. Cut jelly into desired shapes. I used orange flavoured jelly. You can use different flavored and colored jellies.
  15. Layer vermicelli custard mixture and jelly in short glasses.
  16. Top with fresh cherry and sprinkle chopped pistachio. Serve chilled.
