Add washed rice and dhal to the pressure cooker directly or in a vessel,with 3 cups of water.
Let cook for 2 to 3 whistle,the rice should be mushy.
When the pressure has subsided, do not open till the seasoning is ready.
Add oil to a pan keeping on medium flame,add pepper, jeera,cashew, asafodita,and curry leave,pour on the cooked rice.Add ghee ,ginger and salt,mix well .
Pongal is ready to serve with ulundhu vadai ,sambar and chutney.
