Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. I cup raw rice
  2. 1/4 cup Moong dal
  3. Salt as per required
  4. 3 cups of Water
  5. Seasoning :,
  6. Ghee 3 tbsp
  7. oil 2 tbsp
  8. Jeera 1 1/2 tesp
  9. Finely chopped ginger 1 tesp
  10. Whole black pepper 1 1/2 tesp
  11. Asafodita 1/4 tesp
  12. Cashew broken to half 12 pieces
  13. few curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Add washed rice and dhal to the pressure cooker directly or in a vessel,with 3 cups of water.
  2. Let cook for 2 to 3 whistle,the rice should be mushy.
  3. When the pressure has subsided, do not open till the seasoning is ready.
  4. Add oil to a pan keeping on medium flame,add pepper, jeera,cashew, asafodita,and curry leave,pour on the cooked rice.Add ghee ,ginger and salt,mix well .
  5. Pongal is ready to serve with ulundhu vadai ,sambar and chutney.
