ABOUT Veg cheese calzones RECIPE

The origin of Calzones is from Naples-Italy.It is basically a bread dough shaped like half moon and filled with any stuffing.Here I have stuffed with vegetables and cheese.Healthy snack for kids as covering is made with wheat flour and is full of vitamins from the vegetables and protein from the cheese.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. For the covering:
  2. Wheat flour-3/4 cup
  3. All purpose flour-1/4 cup
  4. Active dry yeast-1/2 tsp
  5. Olive oil-1/2 tbsp
  6. Sugar-1/2 tsp
  7. Salt
  8. For stuffing:
  9. Capsicum-1/2 cup
  10. Onion-1/2 cup
  11. Garlic-6 cloves
  12. Tomato-1/4 cup
  13. Cottage cheese/paneer-100 gm
  14. Cheese-50 gmsalt
  15. Black pepper-1/2 tsp
  16. Oregano-1/2 tsp
  17. Chilli flakes-1/2 tsp
  18. Oil-1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. PREPARE ALL INGREDIENTS FOR THE COVERING OF CALZONE.
  2. TAKE 1/2 CUP WARM WATER.ADD SUGAR AND YEAST.STIR AND COVER FOR 10 MINUTES.
  3. TAKE WHEAT FLOUR,MAIDA IN A MIXING BOWL.
  4. ADD ACTIVATED YEAST MIXTURE TO THE FLOUR AND KNEAD.
  5. ADD OLIVE OIL AND KNEAD INRO A SMOOTH DOUGH.
  6. OUR DOUGH IS READY.COVER AND KEEP IN A WARM PLACE FOR AN HOUR.
  7. PREPARE FINELY CHOPPED CAPSICUM,TOMATO AND ONIONS FOR STUFFING.CUT PANEER ALSO INTO SMALL PIECES.
  8. TAKE A TBSP OF OLIVE OIL IN A PAN.
  9. ADD CHOPPED GARLIC AND SAUTE.
  10. ADD ONIONS AND SAUTE FOR A MINUTE.
  11. ADD CAPSICUM AND SAUTE FOR 2 -3 MINUTES ON MEDIUM HIGH FLAME.
  12. ADD TOMATOES AND SAUTE FOR 2 MINUTES.
  13. ADD SALT AND BLACK PEPPER.
  14. ADD OREGANO AND CHILLI FLAKES.MIX AND SAUTE FOR A MINUTE.
  15. PUT OFF THE GAS AND ADD COTTAGE CHEESE PIECES AND GRATED CHEESE.
  16. MIX LIGHTLY AND LET THE STUFFING COOL.
  17. TAKE A SMALL BALL FROM DOUGH AND ROLL INTO SMALL DISC.
  18. PREPARE ALL DISCS SIMILARLY.
  19. PUT A SPOON FULL OF FILLING ON ONE DISC.
  20. COVER AND MAKE HALF MOON SHAPE.STICK THE EDGES.
  21. PRESS WITH A FORK TO MAKE DESIGN ON EDGES.
  22. BRUSH THE CALZONES WITH OIL.KEEP IN A PREHEATED OVEN AT 180 DEGREES C FOR 20 TO 22 MINUTES.
  23. SEE HOW NICE AND CRISP THE LOWER PART IS.
