Sooji [semolina] is healthy and above it feels light on your stomach. This upma is non spicy and works wonders if cooked with ghee.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Sooji [semolina] - 1 cup
  2. Onions - 2 medium
  3. Tomatoes - 2 medium
  4. Peanuts - 4 tspn
  5. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tspn
  6. Curry leaves - 2 to 4
  7. Green chillies / red chillies - 2
  8. Ghee - 2 tspn
  9. Salt
  10. Water - 2 cups

Instructions

  1. HEAT OIL , ADD PEANUTS AND SAUTE TILL RED, KEEP THEM ASIDE
  2. HEAT GHEE, ADD MUSTARD SEEDS,GREEN CHILLIES AND LET THEM CRACKLE
  3. ADD KADHI LEAVES
  4. ADD CHOPPED ONIONS, SAUTE FOR 5 MIN
  5. ONCE THEY CHANGE COLOR, ADD TOMATOES
  6. SAUTE TILL TOMATOES BECOMES SOFT, ADD PINCH OF HALDI
  7. ADD SALT
  8. AFTER MIXING, ADD WATER
  9. LET IT BOIL
  10. I HAVE TAKEN ROASTED SOOJI, U CAN ROAST SOOJI ON YOUR OWN ALSO BEFOREHAND
  11. ONCE IT STARTS BOILING, ADD THE SOOJI SLOWLY BY LOWERING THE FLAME
  12. MIX WELL AND KEEP ON STIRRING TO AVOID LUMPS, THIS IS THE MAIN STEP
  13. ADD THE PREPARED PEANUTS, POUR FEW DROPS OF GHEE IN THE END TO BRING A SPECIAL AROMA
