Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Bhetki fish- 4 pieces
  2. Coconut paste/grated- 1/2 cup
  3. Mustard paste - 2 tbsp
  4. Garlic paste -1 tsp
  5. Green chillies -2-3
  6. Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  7. Salt as required

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish with little turmeric and salt. Keep aside.
  2. Take 1-2 tbsp mustard seeds. Soak it in water for 20-30 mins, then grind it with green chilllies and salt, if you have sil batta, please use that to make the mustard paste. (You can also use mustard powder. Soak 2 tbsp mustard powder in 3-4 tbsp water with little salt.)
  3. Take a steel tiffin box, add coconut paste or grated, mustard paste, garlic paste, green chilli paste, turmeric powder, salt to taste and 2-3 tbsp mustard oil. Mix everything together.
  4. Now add the marinated fish. Mix well into the coconut paste and add 2-3 slit green chillies. Now close the tiffin box.
  5. Heat a pressure cooker with 1/2 cup of water. Put the tiffin box inside the cooker and close the lid.
  6. Wait till 2 whistles blow. Then reduce the flame on low and cook for 20-25 mins. Then turn off the gas.
  7. Take out the tiffin box from the cooker, the bhapa bhetki/steam fish is ready to be served with steamed rice.
