ABOUT Cinnamon Apple Oats Porridge RECIPE

Oats has become a superfood,a healthy option and a universal alternative which is now adopted for nearly every recipe – snacks,main course or dessert.Now recipes in food shows and “healthy” cookbooks have become saturated with this humble yet wonderful health food!I use Oats in numerous ways and one of them is for breakfast in the form of a porridge!This is a delicious option and the addition of ingredients like Cinnamon and Apple make it even yummier.Kids have it as this is “something different” for them!

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup oats (any of the above varieties)
  2. 2 tbsp sugar
  3. 1/2 tsp Salt
  4. 2 cups whole/slim milk
  5. 2 tsp cinnamon powder
  6. 1/2 tsp nutmeg powder
  7. 2 tbsp golden raisins
  8. 2 tbsp apple puree (1 Apple peeled, cored, chopped and blended to a paste in the mixer with 2-3 tbsp milk)
  9. To serve:
  10. Chopped Apples, whole golden raisins and assorted fruits

Instructions

  1. Combine the oats, salt and milk in a saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat and keep checking the cereal. (In 10-12 minutes it should get cooked.) Lower the heat and add sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg powders and 1 tbsp raisins.
  2. Cook for 1-2 minutes and take it off the heat.
  3. Mix in the apple puree and stir it well. Ladle the porridge into 2 serving bowls and garnish each bowl with 2 apple slices and 1/2 tbsp raisins per bowl.
  4. Serve with assorted fruits on the side.
