Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 250 gm Split moong dal
  2. 1 teaspoon red chilli Powder
  3. Salt to taste
  4. 4 Cardamoms
  5. 6 cloves
  6. 1 piece Coal
  7. 250 ml Milk
  8. 125 gram cream
  9. 250 gm Curd
  10. 1 teaspoon mint leaves
  11. 1 teaspoon Saffron
  12. 25 grams pure ghee
  13. 1 Betel Leaf or paan ka patta
  14. 8 cloves Garlic
  15. 1/2 tablespoon cumin seeds
  16. 1-2 Green Chilies
  17. For garnishing chopped Coriander Leaves

Instructions

  1. In a cooker add soaked yellow lentil, 2 cups of water, salt, and red chili powder and pressure cook till it softens.
  2. Take cloves and cardamoms in equal quantity and make paste. Heat coal piece on gas.
  3. In a bowl add yoghurt, milk and cream. Mix it well.
  4. Mash cooked pulse with the help of ladle. Add yoghurt mixture, clove and cardamoms paste in pulse, mix it well and cook it on low flame.
  5. For the smoking flavour , put a betel leaf in hot pulse and hot coal on the leaf. Add ghee on coal and close the lid of cooker for 10 minutes.
  6. After 10 minutes remove coal and leaf from cooker and add wet saffron. Mix it well.
  7. For tempering heat ghee in a small pan and add cumin seeds . Pour it in dal.
  8. Garnish with cumin seeds and pan leaves. Enjoy yummy dish with rice , naan or chapati.
