Hyderabadi green chicken is a very popular and flavourful recipe. It is generally prepared during the marriage functions. All the masalas and spices are used during the marination only and cooked on simmer till done.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Chicken 500gm
  2. Ginger garlic paste 1tsp
  3. Curd 4tbsp
  4. Lemon juice 1tbsp
  5. Oil 2tbsp
  6. Bayleaf 1
  7. Cloves 2
  8. Cumin seeds 1tsp
  9. Cardamom powder 1 tsp
  10. Coriander powder 1tsp
  11. Garam masala powder 1tsp
  12. Salt as per taste
  13. Green food color pinch(optional)
  14. For masala paste 1
  15. Coriander leaves 4tbsp
  16. Green chilli 4-5
  17. Mint leaves handful
  18. For masala paste 2-
  19. Onion 2fried
  20. Kaju 5
  21. Badam 5
  22. Pista 5

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken with black pepper powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, salt.
  2. Add curd.
  3. Add lemon juice.
  4. Add cardamom powder.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Then add green paste. (paste1)
  7. Make green paste by grinding mint, coriander and green chillies.
  8. Then add onion paste. (paste2)
  9. Make onion paste by grinding fried onions, cashew, pista and almonds.
  10. Add food color now if using.
  11. Mix all the above ingredients and marinate chicken for 1-2hours.
  12. Then Heat oil in a nonstick pan and add cloves, cumin, bayleaf and cardamom.
  13. When splutter add the marinated chicken pieces.
  14. Mix well.
  15. Cook on high flame for 5mins and then simmer and cook for 15-20mins or till done.
  16. Hyderabadi green chicken is ready to be served.
