ABOUT Batata Matri Kizbra(Lebanese style fried potatoes in garlic and coriander) RECIPE

Batata is an Arabic word of potatoes. This lebanese dish is made by stir fry potatoes in garlic and coriander. First the potato cubes deeply fried until crispy then toss into garlic and coriander leaves with drizzle of lemon juice. Simple recipe but very flavourful,can be used as a starter or side dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 potatoes ,peeled and diced
  2. 6-7 cloves of garlic,minced
  3. 5 green chilies chopped
  4. 2 -3 tbsp olive oil
  5. 2 tsp lemon juice
  6. 1 cup coriander chopped
  7. Salt for seasoning.

Instructions

  1. Peel and wash potatoes then cut into cubes. Sprinkle some salt on it. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a frying pan and fry potatoes until light brown and crispy. Drain on a paper towel.
  2. In the same oil add 1 tbsp more oil if needed and saute minced garlic,fry until light brown and add chopped coriander and chilies. Just give a toss then add fried potatoes.
  3. Toss them gently and switch off the flame and drizzle lemon juice. Taste the seasoning.
  4. Serve it warm as a starter or side dish.
