purple yam chaat is also known as Ratalu ni chaat in Gujarati.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 500 gram purple yam
  2. 1tsp cooking soda
  3. 3 tbsp oil
  4. rock salt as per taste
  5. 1 tbsp dry roasted cumin seeds powder
  6. 2 Green Chillies chopped
  7. 1 tsp pepper powder (kali mirch)
  8. 2 tbsp lemon juice
  9. few coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. wear gloves and cut purple yam into pieces , advised to wear as it starts itching after we cut it .
  2. Add 3 cups of water and cooking soda and keep aside.
  3. Remove water & bring it to two whistles in cooker.
  4. cool it .
  5. Take kadai, heat oil & add yam pieces and keep cooking for 3/4 mins.
  6. Add rock salt , Green Chillies, roasted cumin powder & keep cooking on low flame for 2 mins .
  7. Add pepper powder & cook for 4/5 minutes till masala mixes well.
  8. switch off the gas. Add lemon juice & garnish with coriander leaves & happy fasting .
