This is a very yummy thokku which will goes very well with curd rice. Also tastes good with idli/dosa.
Spicy and yum :D
Clean and peel the ginger. Cut into small slices.
Soak tamarind in warm water set aside.
In a kadai, heat 3tbsp if gingelly oil, add the urad dal. Fry till golden brown.
Add the red chilli and fry for a minute.
Add the sliced ginger and simmer the flame. Saute for five minutes.
Switch off and cool down.
In a mixie, add the tamarind, jaggery powder, the roasted items (ginger,chilli and dal) and add required salt.
Add little water and grind to a smooth paste.
Heat kadai with 1 tbsp oil and add the ground paste with little water and saute for two minutes till oil separates and the thooku is thick.
Serve with curd rice or idli/dosa.
