ABOUT Mirchi Bhajji RECIPE

A delicious evening snack. Enjoy at tea time with family or friends. Kids to elders all can enjoy this tasty evening snack. I have learnt this from my mom and happy to share it with you all.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Bhajji mirchis - 8
  2. Ajwain - 1tsp
  3. Dates and tamarind chutney - 2 to 3 tbsps
  4. Dry Mango powder - 1 tsp
  5. Salt
  6. Onion - 2 chopped finely
  7. Tomatoe - 1 large chopped finely
  8. Besan / gram flour - 2 cups
  9. Cornflour - 3 tbsps
  10. Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  11. Turmeric - 1 /2 tsp
  12. Baking soda - 1 /2 tsp
  13. Water sufficient to make a thick batter
  14. Lemon - 1
  15. Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Wash, slit and deseed the green chilies.
  2. Rub tamarind chutney on the inner sides of each chilli
  3. Sprinkle pinch of ajwain inside each chilli
  4. Now sprinkle dry Mango powder and pinch of salt inside each chilli
  5. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile mix the gramflour batter for coating the chillies :
  7. Take a deep bowl, add the flours, spice powders, baking soda and salt
  8. Make a thick slurry adding sufficient water
  9. Keep oil for deep frying
  10. Deep each chilli in the batter, coat well and deep fry on hot oil
  11. Drain on a kitchen towel.
  12. Now reheat the oil. Coat the chillies again in the same batter in the same manner and deep fry in hot oil once again.
  13. Drain on a kitchen towel. Let it cool a little to handle properly
  14. Keep the chopped onion and tomatoe ready.
  15. Now make a slit on one side of each chilli and stuff with the chopped onion and tomatoe.
  16. Sprinkle some salt and drizzle few drops of lemon juice to finish
  17. Enjoy lovely hot chatpata mirchi bhajjis with a cuppa
