ABOUT Fried fish curry RECIPE

Fried fish curry is a delicious, flavourful and easy to make curry that tastes best with plain white rice. The fish slices are first fried in oil and then mixed in a spicy onion and tomato based gravy.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For the frying the fish
  2. 4 large slices of fish (king fish or Seer fish)
  3. 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Oil for frying
  6. For the gravy
  7. 2 tbsp oil
  8. 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
  9. 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  10. 1 onion ground to a paste
  11. 1 onion cut into small squares
  12. 3 tomatoes ground to a paste
  13. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  14. 1 tsp salt
  15. 1 tsp coriander powder
  16. 1 tsp garam masala powder
  17. 1 tsp cumin powder
  18. 1 tsp soya sauce
  19. Chopped coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Take the fish slices, apply salt and red chilli powder on both sides and set aside to marinate for atleast an hour.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the fish slices one at a time till cooked. Transfer to a plate and keep ready.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add finely chopped ginger and garlic. Saute for a few seconds till the raw smell goes.
  4. Add onion paste and saute for a couple of minutes.
  5. Next add red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt and mix well.
  6. Next add tomato puree and cook till oil starts separating.
  7. Add the onion squares and soya sauce and mix well.
  8. Add 1 cup water and bring to a boil.
  9. Add the fried fish slices and chopped coriander leaves.
  10. Reduce heat, close a lid and cook for 5 to 10 minutes.
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
