ABOUT Barnyard Millet Khichidi RECIPE

Barnyard Millet, baghar in Hindi or Kuthiraveli in tamil is one of the variety millet. I have made Khichdi with vegetable.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup Barnyard Millet (washed and then soaked for 15 minutes)
  2. 1 cup vegetables, boiled (Carrot, Beans, Broccoli, Potato)
  3. 1 Onion cut lengthy or spring onions
  4. 1 Tomato cut
  5. 1 Green Chilli slit
  6. 1/2 inch piece Ginger, shredded
  7. 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  8. 1/2 tsp Dhania powder
  9. 1/2 tsp Chilli powder
  10. Curry leaves a few
  11. Coriander leaves 1/2 bunch
  12. 2 tsp Oil
  13. 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  14. 1 tsp Jeera seeds

Instructions

  1. Take a pan, add oil, jeera, curry patta, onions, ginger, green chilli and fry. Add turmeric, tomato and all the vegetables. Keep frying.
  2. Add two cups of water and salt. Let it boil, add the millet. Keep stirring and keep the flame on low. Cover and cook till soft.
  3. Add ghee and serve.
