ABOUT Spinach Onion Crispies... RECIPE

These are a yummy version of homemade crispies with spinach and onion. Not only that, the use of gram flour is as minimal as possible. It is used here just as a binder. The result is super crispy and savoury snack that is too irresistible. The finely chopped spinach and it's awesome colour makes it a must have snack at tea-time.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Spinach finely chopped 3 bunches
  2. Onions thinly sliced 4
  3. Salt 1 tsp
  4. Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
  5. Coriander powder 1/2 tsp
  6. Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  7. Ginger garlic paste 1/2 tsp
  8. Asafoetida 1/8th tsp
  9. Coriander leaves finely chopped 1/2 cup
  10. Gram flour 1/2 cup
  11. Water 1/2 cup (or as needed)

Instructions

  1. Make a dry and a thick batter that is not at all lumpy.
  2. Heat oil and drop them with your hands.
  3. Do not use a spoon.
  4. They should fall like small crispies or sticks that are not sticking together.
  5. They should not look like pakoras or fritters.
  6. Drain them well on an absorbent paper.
  7. Serve hot with as it is.
