An amazing innovative idea by me for my ever demanding kids. A perfect homemade namkeen made with leftover cooked rice that is sun dried. This is a yummy snack idea for everyone best enjoyed at tea-time or as a 4 pm munchie.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Cooked rice 4 cups
  2. Almonds 1/2 cup
  3. Peanuts 1/2 cup
  4. Roasted Bengal gram 1/2 cup
  5. Cornflakes 1/2 cup
  6. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  7. Salt 1 tsp
  8. Dry red chillies 4
  9. Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  10. Chaat Masala 1 tbsp
  11. Curry leaves 1/4th cup

Instructions

  1. First of all, dry the cooked rice under direct sunlight for nearly 2 days.
  2. Deep fry this sun dried cooked rice in hot oil until golden brown.
  3. In the same oil, fry peanuts,roasted bengal gram, curry leaves and cornflakes.
  4. Also fry green chillies. These are however optional.
  5. Also fry almonds.
  6. Combine all these in a big mixing bowl.
  7. Sprinkle salt and red chilli powder.
  8. Also sprinkle chaat masala.
  9. Squeeze lemon juice just before serving.
