ABOUT MURUNGAI KEERAI THANI SAARU RECIPE

Murungai keerai thani saaru is a healthy and very light south Indian soup that is very nutritious. This saaru has many health benefits and very soothing to throat and reliefs cold. The drumstick leaves and coconut milk also makes this soup tasty.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Drumstick leaves – 1 and 1/2 cup
  2. Rice water – 2 cups
  3. Small onions – 6
  4. Tomato – 1
  5. Green chilli – 2
  6. Coconut milk – 1 cup
  7. Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  8. Pepper seeds – 1/2 tsp
  9. Salt – as required
  10. Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  11. Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  12. Oil – 2 tsp
  13. Red chilli – 2

Instructions

  1. Take rice water in a pan and boil it adding washed drumstick leaves, slitted green chilli, chopped onion and tomato.
  2. Mix well and boil in medium flame until leaves are cooked.
  3. Meanwhile extract coconut milk and keep aside. Once the leaves are cooked soft, add coconut milk, crushed Cumin pepper mixture and required salt. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Now prepare tempering. Heat oil in small pan, add Cumin seeds. Once it splutters, add curry leaves and red chilli. Switch off and add it to the soup.
  5. Mix well and remove from flame. Check for salt and serve hot.
