Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice cooked 2 cups
  2. Black peppercorns 10-12
  3. Cumin seeds 2 teaspoons
  4. Dried red chilli broken 1
  5. Ghee 2 tablespoons
  6. Split Bengal gram (chana dal) 1 teaspoon
  7. Split skinless black gram (dhuli urad dal) 1 teaspoon
  8. Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  9. Curry leaves 10-12
  10. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Dry roast cumin seeds and black peppercorns in a non-stick pan till fragrant. Add dried chilli and mix well. Switch off heat, cool down to room temperature and grind to a coarse powder.
  2. Heat ghee in another non-stick pan, add Bengal gram, black gram and mustard seeds and saute till lightly browned.
  3. Add curry leaves Add salt and mix well. Add rice and mix well.
  4. Add ground powder and mix well. Cook till the rice gets heated through.
  5. Transfer into a serving plate and serve hot.
