A very easy & healthy recipe

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Ivy gourd / Tindora - 1 big cup ( washed & cut into thin slices )
  2. Basmati rice - 1 & half glass
  3. Onion-2 big finely chopped
  4. Tomatoes - 2 cut small
  5. Ginger & Garlic finely chopped - 1 tbspn
  6. Green chilly - 1 or 2 slit
  7. Jeera - 1 tspn
  8. Turmeric pwdr - half tspn
  9. Red chilly powder - half tspn
  10. Biryani masala or kitchen king masala - 1tspn ( adjust to taste )
  11. Water for cooking - 3 glasses (double proportion of the rice taken)
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Oil - about 1 & half tbspn
  14. Ghee- 1 tspn
  15. Coriander leaves for garnish
  16. Lemon - half

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice & keep it soaked for 15 minutes...
  2. A picture of the chopped ...Tindora
  3. Now take a pressure cooker heat it add oil and then jeera....after it splutters put the chopped onions & saute well for 2 minutes
  4. Then add the slit green chilly & chopped ginger and garlic... Saute well till the raw smell goes
  5. Then add the dry masalas & salt and chopped tomatoes and cook till soft
  6. Then add the chopped tindora/ivy gourd.Give a nice stir...
  7. Then add the washed drained rice... Mix well... Put ghee & fry for a few minutes....
  8. A look inside the cooker with all ingredients before adding water
  9. Then add the measured water and squeeze lemon juice.Check salt and spices...Add if required
  10. A picture of the rice with measured water before being cooked...
  11. Then close the cooker and dont put the weight.... that is without the whistle and let it cook on low to medium flame till about 5 mins...
  12. Then turn off the gas when done.... put the weight later and don't let the steam release....
  13. Before serving garnish with coriander leaves....
  14. Serve hot with raita & papad and pickle... :blush:
