ABOUT Sprouted Bean Cake RECIPE

A healthy gluten free steamed cake filled with the goodness of sprouted beans will satisfy the hunger for those who watch on their calorie intake. A best meal for brunch.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Sprouted beans 3 1/2 cups
  2. Ginger piece 2 inch
  3. Green chillies 2 nos
  4. Onions finely chopped 2 nos
  5. Tomato finely chopped 1 no.
  6. Grated carrot 1/3 cup
  7. Instant yeast ½ tsp
  8. Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
  9. Chilli powder ½ tsp
  10. Garam masala ¼ tsp
  11. Oil 2 tsp
  12. Cloves of garlic finely chopped 10 nos
  13. Asafoetida ¼ tsp
  14. Low fat hung yoghurt ½ cup
  15. Cherry tomatoes 10 nos

Instructions

  1. Grind 3 cups of sprouted beans with ginger and green chillies to a fine paste by adding ¾ cup water.
  2. Add instant yeast to the batter and allow it to ferment for 30 minutes
  3. In a pan heat 1 tsp of oil and add onions, tomatoes and garlic, sauté for couple of minutes.
  4. Now add ½ cup of sprouted beans along with turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and asafoetida.
  5. Stir and cook on low flame for 4 minutes with lid closed.
  6. Now add carrot and garam masala. Give a stir and after 1 minute remove from heat.
  7. In two 5” dia plates cut two banana leaves so that they fit into the plate.
  8. Pour the fermented batter into two plates and cook for 15 minutes.
  9. Meanwhile prepare yoghurt by adding required salt and keep aside.
  10. After the steamed cakes cook down, peel the banana leaves from the bottom of the cakes.
  11. Now preparing the cake. In a serving plate first place one cake as the bottom layer.
  12. Spread the cooked sprouted bean mixture evenly on the cake.
  13. Place the second cake on the top of the mixture.
  14. Spread yoghurt on the top and arrange the cherry tomatoes.
  15. Cut into slices and serve.
