Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. Palak 2 bunches
  2. Idlis 3 to 4 crumbled
  3. Oil 1 tablespoon
  4. Mustard seeds 1/2 tablespoon
  5. Cumin seeds 1/2 tablespoon
  6. Split husked 1/2 tablespoon bengal gram
  7. 5 to 6 curry leaves
  8. Green chili, 1 chopped
  9. Salt 1/2 tablespoon
  10. Turmeric 1/2 tablespoon
  11. Coriander leaves 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Firstly pluck the leaves of palak and wash it with water.Drain all the water properly.
  2. In a pan add these leaves and sprinkle some water and put it in low flame.
  3. Cook it till it becomes mashy.
  4. Take it out and let it cool. Add this into hand blender and blend it into smooth paste.
  5. Crumble idlis and keep aside.Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan.
  6. Add mustard seeds and let them crackle.
  7. When they start crackling, add urad dal & cumin seeds.
  8. Saute till the urad dal turns golden. then add curry leaves and 1 green chili chopped.
  9. Add the crumbled idli and also add a bit of salt,chilli powder and turmeric powder mix very well and saute for a minute or two.
  10. Finally add palak paste and mix well till it is done.
  11. Then switch off the flame. Lastly add 1 to 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves.
  12. Mix again and serve idli upma with some coconut chutney or lemon pickle.
