ABOUT BATATA WADA RECIPE

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup gram flour
  2. 5 medium size potatoes boiled and peeled
  3. 1 tsp turmeric powder,
  4. 5 flakes garlic
  5. 1″ginger
  6. 5 green chillies
  7. 1/4 bundle of coriander leaves
  8. Pinch of soda bi carbonate
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Chilli powder
  11. Oil [for deep frying]
  12. Water [as required]

Instructions

  1. Blend together gram flour, salt, soda, tumeric powder and chilli powder if using.  Add enough water to form a thick batter.   Heat oil in a kadai.  
  2. Pour about 1 tbsp of hot melted oil into the gram flour mix and set aside for 1/2 hour.  Meanwhile grind ginger, garlic, chillies and coriander leaves to a paste.
  3. Cut potatoes into fine cubes.  Mix with salt and the ground paste.
  4. Form into round balls , dip into the batter and deep fry on a medium flame to a golden brown colour.  Drain thoroughly and serve with tomato sauce and chutney of your choice.
