ABOUT Sooji Dhokla with green chutney RECIPE

A traditional breakfast receipe of the North specialy gujrat. Healthy and tasty for all age groups.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Sooji/Rava - 1 1/2 cups
  2. Fresh curd - 1 1/2 cups
  3. Water as required (for batter consistency)
  4. Green chillies - 2 chopped
  5. Ginger - 1 inch chopped
  6. Chana dal - 4 tbsp
  7. Cashew broken - 2 tbsps
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Lemon - 1
  10. Coriander - few springs
  11. Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  12. For temoering:
  13. Oil - 1 tsp
  14. Mustard seeds-1 tsp
  15. Asfotedia - 1 pinch
  16. Curry leaves few
  17. For the green chutney:
  18. Dessicated coconut - 1/4 cup
  19. Coriander - 1 bunch/ (200 GMS)
  20. Green chilie - 1
  21. Ginger - 1/2 inch
  22. Salt to taste
  23. Sugar - 1/2 tsp
  24. Water little to grind
  25. For tempering :
  26. Oil - 1 tsp
  27. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  28. Asfotedia - 1 pinch
  29. Curry leaves few

Instructions

  1. Mix the sooji with curd, green chillies, ginger, water and salt. Leave it aside for Atleast 1/2 an hour.
  2. Soak the dal and cashew in 2 cups of water
  3. After 1/2 an hour add water for required batter consistency. Add the soaked dal and cashew. Give a nice mix
  4. Keep dhokla stand ready with water boiling. Or can even make it in rice cooker.( Place a thick ring in the rice cooker. Pour water half way to ring, heat it and then keep the dhokla plate.Cover and cook)
  5. Prepare the dhokla plate / stand by greasing with a spoon of oil
  6. Add baking soda to the batter and give a mix gently. Pour the mixture on the plate
  7. Keep the plate to cook for around 5 minutes
  8. Make the chutney by Grinding all ingredients mentioned with some water
  9. Temper the dhoklas with oil, mustard seeds, asfotedia and curry leaves.
  10. Temper the chutney the same way
  11. Serve hot dhokla with delicious dhokla chutney
