ABOUT Ghee Dosa... RECIPE

A classic South Indian breakfast well known to every Indian. Wherever they are in India, people love this super yummy breakfast and make it too. It is a much sought after breakfast option for many. Now a days, there are many variations being introduced. Ghee dosa is a traditional breakfast idea and the dosas made with this are super crispy and aromatic. They smell heavenly due to the presence of ghee and is by all means a super food.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Raw rice 2 cups
  2. Black gram or urad dal 3/4th cup
  3. Bengal gram 2 tbsp
  4. Fenugreek seeds 1 tsp
  5. Salt 1 tbsp
  6. ghee 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Soak rice and dal separately for 5-6 hours.
  2. Add bengal gram and fenugreek seeds to dal while soaking.
  3. Grind them separately into a smooth batter of flowing consistency.
  4. Add little water accordingly.
  5. Add salt to the batter.
  6. Leave it to ferment overnight.
  7. Next day give it a light mix and if the batter looks very thick, then add some water.
  8. Heat a heavy iron griddle or a non stick dosa pan.
  9. Pour a ladleful of the batter in the centre and spread it in a clockwise motion.
  10. Drizzle ghee on the edges of the dosa and a little on top of it.
  11. On a medium flame, cook it until crisp.
  12. Make all in the same way and store the leftover batter in the refrigerator for later use.
  13. Serve this ghee dosa with coconut tamarind chutney and aaloo masala sabzi.
