ABOUT Gajrela (Gajar Ka Halwa) RECIPE

This is a quintessential winter specialty desert from punjab, the traditional gajar ka halwa.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Carrots 6 to 7
  2. Ghee 5 tablespoons
  3. Sugar 7 to 8 tablespoons
  4. Khova 100 gram
  5. Almonds 7 to 8
  6. Cashews 7 to 8

Instructions

  1. First rinse, peel and grate the carrots.
  2. Heat 4 tablespoons ghee in kadai and heat it. Then add grated carrots.
  3. Satute carrots on low flame for 15 to 20 minutes or till it becomes soft. Keep stirring it.
  4. Then add sugar and mix well for another 5 minutes
  5. Chop the almonds and cashews.
  6. In another small pan ,add 1 tablespoon ghee.. Add chopped almonds and cashews. Roast them for few seconds.
  7. Mix this in carrots mixture and serve it hot.
