ABOUT Choco cinnamon donuts RECIPE

Choco cinnamon donuts is a combination of chocolate and Cinnamon. Cinnamon is a spice that has many medicinal benefits and is used for weight loss. It is also used in variety of savoury dishes and desserts. When you bite into these donuts you will get a gooey chocolate with a tinge of cinnamon which is very refreshing. The outer donut is a simple dough made of flour and it is topped with sugar glaze.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. For dough
  2. Warm milk- 1/2 cup
  3. Instant yeast- 1 teaspoon
  4. Sugar- 1/4 cup
  5. Egg- 1 at room temperature
  6. Melted Butter- 4 tablespoon
  7. Flour- 2 cup
  8. For chocolate cinnamon filling
  9. Milk- 1 cup
  10. Custard powder- 2 tablespoon
  11. Cocoa powder- 1 and 1/2 tablespoon
  12. Sugar- 4 tablespoon
  13. Cinnamon powder- 1/4 teaspoon
  14. For Sugar Glaze
  15. Powdered sugar- 1/2 cup
  16. Milk- 5 tablespoon
  17. Vanilla essence- 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. To make the dough, First add sugar and yeast to warm milk, stir and keep for 20 minutes or till frothy on top.
  2. Add the wet ingredients(milk, butter and egg) into a bowl and beat with electric beater.
  3. Add the flour slowly and beat to form a smooth dough.
  4. Dust the work station with some flour and knead and roll the dough into 2cm thickness.
  5. Cut into circles using cookie cutter or glass in any size you want.
  6. Do not knead the remaining dough. Cut the remaining pieces and make donuts with different shapes.
  7. Place the circles on a baking tray and keep in warm place for 1 hour or till dough rises to double its size.
  8. For filling, Boil 3/4 cup milk in a saucepan.
  9. In a bowl add 1/4 cup milk, custard powder, cocoa powder and cinnamon powder and stir to remove lumps.
  10. Add this to the boiling milk and stir continuously to avoid forming lumps.
  11. Add sugar to it.
  12. Cool and fill a piping bag with it.
  13. Refrigerate it till ready to fill.
  14. After the circles have risen deep fry it in oil till golden brown.
  15. Keep it to cool for 10 minutes before filling.
  16. Make a hole using a skewer or a knife and fill the donuts.
  17. Make sugar glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla essence.
  18. Coat or dip the donuts in this glaze.
  19. Sprinkle some cinnamon powder on top of the glaze.
  20. Best served when not cold.
