ABOUT Dhokla Sandwich RECIPE

Garden green Dhokla is a healthy steam dish.We can eat in snacks or breakfast.Dhokla is a very popular Gujarati dish ,i have given it a interesting twist by adding leafy vegetables.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For white Dhokla
  2. Chawli Dal -3/4 cup
  3. Fenugreek and dill leaves chopped-1/2 cup
  4. Ginger and Green chili paste-1 tsp
  5. Oil-1 tsp
  6. salt to Taste
  7. Baking Soda-1/4 tsp
  8. For Green Dhokla
  9. Semolina-1/2 cup
  10. curd 1/4 cup
  11. Spinach and Chili puree 1/4 cup
  12. Oil 1 tsp
  13. Baking Soda-1/4 tsp
  14. Salt to taste
  15. For Tempering
  16. Oil 2 tsp
  17. Sesame seeds 2 tsp
  18. Red chili powder 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. For White Dhokla
  2. Soak Dal overnight, drain excess water and grind it to smooth paste
  3. Add chopped leafy greens ,ginger chilly paste and salt to paste. Mix well
  4. Add water and soda with little hot oil to form smooth batter. Pour the batter in greased idli molds
  5. Steam for 10 minutes, demould and insert dhoklas into skewers. Keep it aside
  6. For Green Dhokla
  7. Add Semolina, curd ,spinach paste and adequate water in a bowl. Mix well to form smooth batter
  8. Add salt, soda and little hot oil. Mix well. Pour batter in greased idli molds
  9. Steam it for 10-12 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes. Demould and insert them on skewers on top and bottom of white dhokla
  10. For Tempering-Heat oil in pan. Add Sesame seeds and chili powder. Saute for few seconds. Sprinkle little water. Now pour the tempering over dhoklas. Serve warm with chutney
