ABOUT Marble Green Rawa Idli RECIPE

Idli is a very famous dish throughout India. There are different types of idlis. Today I have made regular rawa idli with a twist. I have used spinach and fenugreek leave or methi paste to add nice colour and also to improve the health quotient of the dish. It is served with regular sambar and coriander chutney.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Semolina 3 cups
  2. Toor Dal 2 teaspoon
  3. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  4. Curry leaves 7-8
  5. Spinach and fenugreek leaves paste 1 cup
  6. Curd 1 cup
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Water as required
  9. Coriander leaves chopped 4 tbsp
  10. Oil 2 tablespoon
  11. Baking soda 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 table spoonoil in a pan. Add dal and saute until golden brown
  2. Splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves and saute for few seconds
  3. Now add semolina and saute for 5 minutes. Add salt and mix well
  4. Allow to cool completely
  5. Add curd and water to make smooth pouring consistency batter.
  6. Rest batter for 15 minutes.
  7. Blend coriander leaves and spinach fenugreek leaves paste to form smooth paste
  8. Divide the batter into two portions. In one portion , add green paste and mix well
  9. Now add soda to both batter and mix
  10. Grease idli moulds. Pour green batter to mould and then add white batter on top
  11. Lightly swirl batter. Steam for 10 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes. Demould idlis
  12. Delicious marble idli is ready to be served
