ABOUT Chatpata Kela RECIPE

Crispy and spicy stir fried sliced boiled raw bananas with peel served as side dish in lunch or dinner.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw Banana 2
  2. Ghee 3 tbsp
  3. Carom seeds 1/2 tsp
  4. Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
  5. Green chilies 4
  6. Salt 3/4 tsp
  7. Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  8. Coriander powder 3/4 tsp
  9. Garam masala 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Add raw bananas in boiling water, cover and cook over medium heat, for 12-15 minutes until tender
  2. Allow to cool completely
  3. Slice the bananas with peel.
  4. Heat ghee in a wok and splutter Carom seeds, Asafoetida and slit green chilies.
  5. Add sliced bananas and toss well
  6. Keep tossing every 3-4 minutes over medium heat
  7. When slices are little golden brown, add salt, red chili powder, coriander powder and garam masala. Toss well
  8. Add a tbsp of ghee and cook for a minute to roast spices.
  9. Chatpata kela is ready to serve.

Quick and easy to prepare. Can I add amchur powder for a tangy flavour?
