ABOUT Spicy Herb Chicken Biryani RECIPE

Usually for any biriyani mint or coriander is used whole in minimal quantity. Here it's been pasted with green chillies and used as a main ingredient.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Jeera rice 11/2 cup
  2. Chicken 1/2 kg
  3. Mint leaves 1/2 cup
  4. Coriander leaves 11/4 cups
  5. Green chilies 6
  6. Onion 2 finely sliced
  7. Chopped Tomato 1
  8. Ginger garlic paste 2 teaspoon
  9. Curd 1/2 cup
  10. Cardamom 3
  11. Cinnamon stick 1 inch
  12. Cloves 3
  13. pepper corns 4
  14. Star anise 1
  15. Kalpasi 1 teaspoon
  16. Fennel seed 1/2 teaspoon
  17. Oil 2 teaspoon
  18. Ghee 2 teaspoon
  19. Butter 1 blob

Instructions

  1. Grind mint, coriander and green chilies with little water to form smooth paste
  2. Ground all the dry ingredients in a mortar pestle coarsely.
  3. Soak rice for 15 minutes. Clean and drain excess water
  4. Heat oil and ghee together in a cooker.
  5. Add ground powder and saute for a minute
  6. Add onion and 1 green chili. Saute for a minute
  7. Add green herb paste and mix well
  8. Add chicken and mix well.
  9. Add tomato.
  10. Add curd and gently mix
  11. Add jeera rice and mix well
  12. Add 2 cups of water with blob of butter.
  13. Bring to boil
  14. Pressure cook for two whistle and simmer for 5 minutes.
  15. Wait till pressure subsides.
  16. Serve warm with raita or salan
