ABOUT palak chakli RECIPE

a very healthy snack made using spinach puree

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup rice flour
  2. 2 tbsp urad dal flour
  3. 1 tbsp butter
  4. 1 tsp white sesame seeds
  5. 20-25 spinach leaves
  6. 2-3 green chilli
  7. salt to taste
  8. oil for frying

Instructions

  1. clean and remove thick stem of the spinach leaves, wash and keep aside
  2. heat water in a wide bowl to blanch spinach leaves
  3. bring it to boil and switch off the flame
  4. put washed leaves into the hot water and leave for 2-3 minutes
  5. then strain it and grind with green chilli using mixer grinder with little water
  6. extract the juice from the paste using a strainer and keep aside
  7. in a bowl, add rice flour, urad dal flour, sesame seeds and butter
  8. mix well with your fingers, it should be like a bread crumbs
  9. now add spinach juice little by little and knead a medium stiff dough
  10. take the murukku maker with attachment
  11. grease with oil and fill the dough
  12. prepare spiral shaped chaklis by pressing the machine
  13. heat oil in a pan
  14. when oil becomes hot, reduce the flame to low
  15. add 3-4 chaklis at a time into the oil and fry on low-medium flame till they turn crispy from both sides
  16. remove the chaklis from oil and drain on the absorbent paper
  17. serve or store in an air tight container after it becomes cool
