ABOUT Veg shami kebab RECIPE

Shami kebab is usually non vegetarian, but giving the whole thing a new twist and something to add to the veg platter. Shami kebab is usually made with meat an ingredient. I have substituted meat with another protien that is soya granules.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chana dal 200grams
  2. Soya granules 100 grams
  3. Ginger 1 inch finely chopped
  4. Green chillies 2 medium sized finely chopped
  5. 5 to 6 cloves of garlic finely chopped
  6. 1 small finely chopped onion
  7. Coriander leaves
  8. 1 tea spoon garam masala
  9. A pinch of Asafoetida
  10. A tea spoon of red chilly powder
  11. 2 table spoon hung curd
  12. Corn flour
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Edible oil

Instructions

  1. Soak the chana dal for up to 8 hours.
  2. After the dal has been soaked, par boil it
  3. Grind the par boiled dal in a grinder coarsely
  4. Boil the soya granules .Remove excess water.
  5. In a large bowl mix dal and soya granules together.
  6. To this add, finely chopped green chilies, finely chopped onions, finely chopped coriander leaves, finely chopped garlic and finely chopped Ginger.
  7. Add garam masala, red chilly powder, salt, asfoetida.
  8. mix all the ingredients together
  9. Make small patties and dust corn flour on them
  10. Marinate these patties with hung curd and leave them in the fridge for an hour
  11. After an hour, on a non stick pan fry the patties till they attain golden brown colour.
